Installation of Xantrex Pro 1000

I currently have a 33 Beneteau and would like to install a Xantrex Inverter inbetween the Shore Power outlet and the Panel. The inverter does have a automatic transfer switch which will detect when shore power is disconnected and switch over to the Batteries. My problem is that the 30amp shore power cables are much thicker then connection cables for the "AC in" on the inverter. Im not sure what to make of this as most shore power is 30amp and the size of the wire should be standard. The instructions do not go into this detail. Can someone please tell me what im doing wrong.

Isn't wire resistance a combination of length and cross-section? If you are connecting to short pieces of wire going into the box then I suppose they don't need to be as thick.

1. Your inverter should be downstream of the panel, on its own breaker (if the breaker is 20A, then you won't have to remember how to get at the 25A breaker built into the unit. It then can feed a subpanel, or, like I did on my boat, feed the breakers on one side of the panel (Blue Seas panels allow you to disconnect columns of breakers to allow different feeds.

2. I checked the Xantrex website, the installation instructions showed connections for AC input and output, but no factory-attached AC wires, so I'm not sure what you're looking at.

Looking at the Xantrex website indicates a mannual for instillation for 30 amp service.

Basicly, it looks like the transfer relay will not hanndle 30 amps of service. Thus you can only connect it to the lower amperage loads that it is rated for.
