How many Amps Hours do you use a day?
So what do you reckon your daily use is;
1. At anchor
2. On a day night passage
In respect of 1, what equipment are you using and for what periods of time.
The same question for 2, and does this include use of an autohelm the whole time?
What part of the world are you basing your answer on?
.. .. and Amps used being total Amps used, excluding any replaced by any means.

Re: How many Amps do you use a day?
That would have to be AH (amp hours) for a quantity of power used over time, or stored.
Amps are an instantaneous measure of flow rate.

Re: How many Amps do you use a day?
I have no idea, I would like to know that too,
Daytime, Laptop only, VHF,
At anchor, at night,
I have Nav lights on, Tricolour, front and rear Nav lights,
VHF, Salon and cockpit lights,
At sea at night, Nav Lights all round, VHF, Cockpit and Salon lights, Laptop, Self steering,
Depth sounder, Speed and wind gauges, GPS, Water pressure pump,
110 volt hot Water heater, Its always on,
Why would different parts of the world matter, Unless your running AC and or a Heater,

A $30 AH counter will tell you.
Watts Up is a branded one, but obviously bigger amp currents may require something more robust.
This one may be good enough for most, just don't run cranking a big diesel through it.

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?
At anchor we use between 90 and 100 amp hours per day. I don't have a proper number at sea but I expect it would be more than double that.

NW Europe 50N and 31ft yacht.
30-40 Ah per day or 60Ah, if we run the heating during the evening and night. Includes fridge, LED lights, tv and laptops etc when at anchor.
Under sail, auto pilot in place of TV and laptops, so pretty similar.
180w of solar keeps on top of charging most days unless it rains for several days straight.

Do you really have your tricolor and front and rear nav lights on when at anchor? They should be off, and an all around white anchor light displayed instead. Less power drain and approved... better all around!

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?
Yes, of course, Ah, silly of me!
Where in the world because of impact on fridge freezer run times.
A counter will tell you, but i am interested in the experience of others.
Why - well i am doing my own aseessment and will report back on my setup and would love to see how it compares, and get a better idea how much power we all use.
I am especially interested in keeping up with power consumption when marina power isnt available, and without resorting to the genset too often.

I was on a swing mooring in a bay surrounded by other yachts on swing moorings and motor boats scorching past at all hours,
I kept my lights on, I want to be seen,

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?
We use 125-150 ah per , we have a systems heavy boat that runs everything from fridge and freezer to auto and nav. We anchor several hundred days a year so very aware of what we are using.

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?
About 60-70ah/day on the hook and 120-160ah/day at sea. 200 watts of semi flex keeps the 310ah bank up most of the time. We are out about 200 days/yr, with an AB fridge, lights, and a movie every night on tv.

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?
We use more than most it seems. Will burn up around 90-130ah overnight from 6pm until 7am.
A fait bit of that is used up early on between 6 anf 10pm with lights, TV, computer/tablet/phone charging fresh water pump and fridge and freezer getting opened for dinner prep, beers ect. Often we have used over 60ah between 6 and 10pm. This is a family if 5 full time long distance cruising.
450watt of solar, air breeze wind gen and watt and sea hydro take care of most of our needs.
Not sure about day time or passage usage as i havent turned off the solar, wind an hydro for a very long time. I do know that i often see a 25ah draw offshore with the autopilot and everything on.

You might consider using your deck light instead. Assuming it is bright enough, it can illuminate your topsides making your hull easy to spot, and it eliminates the confusion of having your nav colors on.

Deck light is bright enough, But I do want to sleep at night,
