Hoop, Solar Panel / Wind Geny / Bimini

Hi All

New to sailing so please be gental.

I have a 36ft Albion Steel Hull Cruising yacht. It has no fridge and barley any electrics and no binmini either.

I was thinking of building a strong double hoop to mount everything on. It would also be great for leaning on when having a piss over boad : )

What are peoples thoughts on this. And if so, what should I make it out of and how thick the material. I am guessing steel. Has anyone any pis or designs they could through my way. I also have a wind vane, would a hoop interfere with it operation?

I bought the boat of an Irish guy but here in Sydney it gets pretty hot so I need shade and and something to keep my beer cool. Any idears and pics would be great.
Thanks Chris

Welcome to the forum.
I'll leave it to others to recommend structural bits, but to your windvane question, our previous boat a Lord Nelson 35 had a Monitor windvane which worked very well.
We had a big solar array, and full sterncloths around the cockpit.
I wouldn't worry too much about airflow. Main thing is eliminating as much friction in the steering and related cables for the windvane as well.

Chris, probably a bit far to post, but give you a starter, price isn't bad for UK. Don't overlook having one made in ali either given your location. Huge weight saving over S/S.

Also worth doing a search on here, I think there was a thread a couple of months ago about "show us your bimini" which might be useful.
