It’s not much of a charger, nothing to charge your bank, more of a trickle charger, but it’s a great way to add a Hobbs meter to a Honda as most Hobbs meters are low voltage DC, usually something like 10V to 30V or so

That’s about the only use I can think of for the dc output!

Yeah, I purchased the charger cord with my Honda 2000 some 13 years ago and tried it once. I could charge my dinghy battery faster with a portable solar panel. Why Honda wasted a good opportunity for a great feature we will never know.

However, using the connection to drive a Hobbs meter is a great idea that never occurred to me. I have always wanted to know the run time on the generator. I will give this a try - THANKS!

[QUOTE=Macblaze;2532039]\\

I'm gonna say this falls under the "too good to be true" category...although it's too soon to tell.

Thanks for posting this. Interesting reading. Looks like buying from a reputable dealer like Northern Tool or Home Depot is the way to go.

Easy enough to put a tach / hour meter off the spark plug.

I’m not sure what you’re asking here.

You mean like an engine driven compressor? If so, no, they’re a normal electric compressor.

Darn, I love their diesel heaters. I sure wish "normal electric" meant DC, no inverter needed, bugbear of mine

Maybe still too early to tell?

At least PayPal you do get the money back.

I guess if a genuine scammer, relying on those that just forget about don't follow up?

It sounds like not everyone is getting their money back from PayPal. The website says they ship within 24 hours but, reading the thread, not a single buyer has actually received their generator.

Perfect, best for redundancy and bearing higher loads.

Now it's worth reading a manual 8-)

So many different sub-types, crazy, would have thought reducing SKUs would be more profitable. . .

Re: Honda 2000 wat generator vs yanmar with 150 amp alternator

Redundancy.

Consider this: On anchor the Yanmar sucked water. Remained undetected for a day or so - things happen.

Results: No access to the power available from the 295 Amp alternator. No wind and cloudy days = No AE sources.

It was nice to have the Honda to keep the fridge/freezer operating, while arranging a 200nm tow to port.

Don't ask how I know. "5hIt* Happens."

Cheers - Jim

Downside must carry the extra fuel required (gasoline).

If you really want DC air conditioning, it’s available. You’ll want a big battery charger to support it while dockside though too.
