Hitachi alternator still producing without field ?!

Hi, I have modified an hitachi LR180 alternator for external regulation. I can start the alternator with the external regulator (p-type) but I can not shut it down. The alt still produces when I unplug the field positive. The only way to shut it down is to unplug the field negative. I have removed the internal regulator and the other component that I believe is the diode trio. Any idea ?
