So if you take 12 60w panels to a common bus. Then big wire to controller and a 75a fuse? On a sunny day is producing 50a. And one of the panel wires shorts to the metal arch. You now have 50A flowing through that 10awg panel wire. Yes the array is self limited to ~50a... too much for a single panel wire and it will be melting / burning.

Like I said keep each array under 30a. Or you'd need to fuse each panel at the bus

Since the controller is too small buy a 2nd and run 2 arrays

Hi smac999

Why does keeping each panel array under 30a mean I do not need to fuse each panel ??
Is it related to the wire sizes of the individual panels. That issue has given me concern.
All solar panels will all be isolated from each other and from the yacht.
