Help Needed - Honda EU2000i Generator

I used a new Honda EU2000i generator without any problems until a few weeks ago.
Now, when I first start it, it stops after a few seconds when the red oil alert light comes on.
I checked the oil level and it is fine (even replaced the oil!).
I restart the generator and it does the same thing!
After from 2 to 5 attempts, it finally runs fine!

I am puzzled ... anybody has any idea of what to check? Yesterday, I sprayed Corrosion Block in all electrical connectors (they looked corrosion-free) ... but that did not help.

Pressure switch bad?

Still more likely a wire connection.

Did you just spray the thing or actually disconnect wires and clean the connections?

New?

I did disconnect all the wire connections I could reach ... contacts looked all clean ... then sprayed and put back together.
I have no idea what the pressure switch looks like or where it is.
Warranty is over. I guess I will look on internet to see if I can find more technical info that in the little owner's manual that send you to a factory dealer for repair

A shop manual would be the thing to have if you are a do-it-yourself person. I can't afford to live without them.

If you can figure out where the switch is and short it to test...........? I would think the light is in the circuit close by.

I just don't know the Honda generator that well.

Ok, tnx for that. Too bad they do not have an email address I can find. will try to Skype them later.
I tried to find a shop manual online but was unsuccessful.
You are right, if I take the generator covers out, I should be able to follow the wire that goes on the light to find the pressure switch.
I may wait for the problem to worsen before I go to all that trouble!

Add a little more oil until it runs. I use a syringe. Had the same problem with my 1000, even when the dipstick showed oil there wasn´t enough in there. Took ages to find out, I was looking for something much more complex

Speaking of oil, a guy on eBay sells a little gasketed gnurled gadget that screws into the oil port and makes pouring out the old oil much less messy (while also serving as an extended funnel for filling).

Thanks for the excellent tip! I found the group and somebody (several in fact) had exactly the same problem I have! Looks like it has to do with the oil viscosity (bubbles) or with a dirty oil sensor (oil pan has to be cleaned with brake fluid first then refill with good oil.
I will do that this week and see if it solves the problem.

All great advice! Add oil, oil filler neck on eBay and yahoo group. A guy on eBay is selling copies of the eu2000i maintenance manual for somethign like $15. Well worth it.

One other remote possibility is the oil pressure sense wire which is yellow. Maybe a crook connection.

hi i have 2 of the honda eu2000i generators and there is no oil pressure switch on them there never has been there is an oil level switch which is situated in the crank case base, the only way to get to it is to strip down the engine and remove the crankcase base which is a lot of messing about, if you want to chance that you will always make sure there is oil in the generator then you can just cut the yellow wire which is the one that checks the oil level but if you ever run low then you will destroy the generator, may be better to just fit a new switch which is part number 35480-Z0D-D02 available from
