Help! Electrics at 110v

Hi guys, not being well versed in electrics, can someone explain what problems I would encounter in Europe or cruising the world with a US spec 110v wired boat?
Is this hard/expensive to change? Necessary to change?
Does it affect the systems onboard?
Thanks
AM
