Hi All,
I've been overhauling our DC system and one issue has been nagging me for a while now. Our DC system is grounded on the
engine (as usual), but we have a plastic shaft saver between the
gearbox and the flange on the shaft. This means that the
engine is isolated from the shaft and
propeller and the path to ground doesn't go out into the
water. We had a
mechanic looking at the engine in the fall and when I asked him about it he said it wasn't a big deal. Our
electrical loads are pretty modest, but I keep wondering if this could be causing any problems.
Thanks!
