Generator Oil

Hello,

I have a Mastervolt diesel generator with the recommended oil 10w40.

Is there any reason I could not change this to 15w40? Since that is what I carry for my engine it would make life much simpler.

Thanks

Re: Generator Oil

Viscosity is relative to where you cruise.. Here in SE Asia I just use sae30 in everything as the temperature is pretty constant. If your in a variable temperature region you will need multi viscosity oil but I doubt 10 or 15 would make much difference IMHO.
