Good Morning.
While running, I can't utilize my
Battery Charger as it overcharges my starting/engine
batteries. A year ago I installed a new Kohler 6EKOD.
My
equipment is:
Volvo Penta D435 IPS with extra
alternator for the house (all alternators were new and have less than 100 hrs). My
Battery Charger is a Pro mariner 12V 50Amp. All
batteries are less than 12 months old with proper
maintenance.
My question is:
- Should I have to use my battery charger at all while underway or should my
alternator supply sufficient house supply? I've received a low battery indicator in the past from the
Volvo EVC system. I believe Volvo EVC only monitors the engines and therefore the starting batteries, so why would I get a low voltage notification?
When I received the notification, the only real load was a perhaps a few lights and the stereo
radio (which does draw with all of its amps and accessories).
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Marc
