Fuses--ANL or MEGA?

I installed an MBRF battery post fuse block and find that the fuses are not so widely available, especially outside the USA. That detracts from the attractiveness of the solution, so I plan to go back to a more conventional style, either ANL or MEGA. Does anyone know which of these is more popular and therefore likely to be more available as we travel?

Re: Fuses--ANL or MEGA?

ANL most likely these days. That said, we carry a lot of spare fuses

As Mega don't have the necessary AIC to meet ABYC standards for direct to battery connections

In fact, the MRBF fuses have a higher ampere interrupt capacity than the ANL fuses. And they are less expensive and easier to use. Downside is they add height.

Re: Fuses--ANL or MEGA?

If you need a fuse kludge outside the US, try an Audi dealer. They use flat stamped "I" shape pieces of fuse metal with one hole in each end for battery direct loads. Basically a stripped down flat version of an ANL fuse. Different size, but of course, that's what nuts and bolts are for. I think up to 130 or 150A rating. The Audi technical term, in their horrid English, for these is "fuse", nothing special. They don't worry about metal splattering or anything, because there's a thin plastic cover over the battery area.

FWIW ANL are available downunder, I dunno about the others.
