Freedom 10 Inverter Remote Panel Installation

I've got an old Heart Interface Freedom 10 Inverter. I'm trying to install the 12v remote panel that was never installed. There is a black and red wire on the remote panel. I assume that gets wired to the 12 volt battery banks. Should it get wired directly to a battery or should I wire it into the DC main panel switch? I wasn't sure if it was used for monitoring the batteries or just for powering the remote panel. Called the Xantech support line and they didn't know either.

I don’t know either but maybe just use a temporary connection to the battery to see how it runs and what features it has. Maybe then you can determine if it is actually reading battery info.

Which remote? The simple one should just have a data cable to the Freedom.
