Follow-up to Xantrex LinkPro Install Question: $90 Wiring Kit

Greetings,

First, thanks for the CF responses on the original post and question.

Next,
Best price for the wiring kit I can find is $90 and includes a lot more
wire that I need, the run from the battery/shunt to the monitor is
less than 10'. Is there a lower price somewhere for the kit?

I could possibly piece the parts together, but I have little experience
with marine electronics, and i don't want this project to become an
odyssey. (It probably will take about 5x longer than I planned.)

Last,
Will I need a crimping tool, or will a large pair of pliers do the job?

Get a quality crimping tool, pliers will not do the job correctly.

What wires? Between the shunt and the monitor? IIRC, the instruction manual says you can make up your own, just need to be twisted. So buy the wire and tie it up and twist it. Some would suggest putting into a drill, but for that distance wire I'd do it manually unless you're really good at it. Manual for the real wire or try some scraps first as practice with the drill.
