I have a 32 foot motor boat on the river. This is realy a sea going boat and has two Volvo Penta 150hp AD31P engines. I go to sea as often as i can but the boat spends most of its life on the river. On the river i only need one engine running and as it has dp outdrives there is no problem handling it.

There are two 120 A/h batteries charged by each engine.
My question is while running the one engine can i put a switch in so all 4 batteries are charged by the one engine.

And if I unintentionally forget to turn this switch off and two engines are running will this damage the alternators
