Fiberglass Antenna Broke

My antenna broke off in a big storm, has this happened to anyone else? should i get the less power metal one?

Vhf antenna ?? or what ?? If Vhf go for the metal one for sure ! where it's at is more inportant then the material it's made of as far as power is concerned!! just my 2 cents

Not sure what a "less power" one is. If you mean less gain, that is mostly a marketing claim. Some antennas because of their physical and electrical length, distort the radiated wave closer to the horizon but in a sailboat, that is often counterproductive and because of the interaction with nearby metallic objects, unrealistic as well.

Gain has to do with the shape of the lobe. The more a boat rolls or heels, the lesser of a gain that you want for a VHF antenna.
