LOL. The "professional" that rewired our pedestal for the PO would have benefited from this information. This theory is more useful for those who pay, because the person you're paying doesn't give a crap about the accuracy of your compass if you don't. Even more valuable theoretical information for a paying customer to absorb would be what happens when your "electrician" leaves slack in wires that run next to a moving chain on a rocking platform.

I grin when I see a giant chartplotter sitting directly above a compass on the pedestal. And not because the power cable run is near the compass :-)

and i for one love the obtuse, and irrelevent info for it may come of use someday. (maybe on Jeopardy?)
