I'm looking for any thoughts on where I should begin to source the possible cause of this situation.

When we turn on our TV there are a couple of channels which we lose the signal to when either the back head is flushed or the over head light in the forward V berth is turned on. We restore the channel frequency when we turn off the TV and turn it back on. My thoughts are it might lie in the ground circuits.

1) monitor the 12v at the back of the TV when the disrupting events occur; if the voltage dips or droops you may have a problem connection somewhere.

2) it's more likely that the back head and/or the fwd vee-berth light are causing interference to the TV. There are various filtering approaches that could be applied to the offending devices, once you identify them. A better antenna on the TV may help, too.

Its motor interference with the head, and I would bet the light is LED which also interferes as there is a switching regulator in them which runs at or near the tv vhf frequencies. The digital tuner stops trying after a while, leave it long enough on a channel or switch back and forth between channels it will re-tune without turning it off and on.

The TV is a/c source not d/c, but the TV and lights all seem to share the inverter charger circuits, as when the a/c supply is off the inverter system takes over.

The frequency suggestion sounds like a good thought will try installing some ferrets

ferrets are not going to do much as the interference is RF and is broadcast, a capacitor and diode across the motor might help as it will suppress the brush arcing. the light .. not much you can do, turn it off and watch in the dark?.

I have had the same problem up until the near lightning strike took out the tuner altogether, still works as a monitor so we watch DVD,s or web content instead.

Ferrets will only help chew up the wires and need to go to the vet, afterwards. Try ferrites instead. Besides, they're cheaper than the furry critters.
