Electrical panel updated

I’m wondering about the advantages / disadvantages of using DIN rail mounted components in an electrical panel V.S. Using standard terminals and circuits breakers when come the time rebuilding or upgrading an existing obsolete panel.

DIN rail mounted asks for more installation space.
AS for corrosion resistance in the marine environment I do not have any hard facts, but I believe it is inférior to the traditional marine electrical components.

After looking further, some DIN rail components seem to be available for humid or corrosive environment. Installation space is a good point.
It appears that in addition to the high end yachts , these components seems to be more and more popular on production boats, from which, my interest in the subject.

Could one reason simply be less labour costs?

Re: Electrical panel updated

Out of curiosity, what is wrong with your existing panel? What makes you want to replace the paneling or switch to a DIN?

Chowdan,
People who know me would smile if they heard your question. in fact, I usually refurbish all the boat I buy and they find that I am too meticulous.
I sold my last boat last spring and I plan to buy another one soon. As it is very likely that I will update its electrical panel and that's why I'm trying to get advice on the benefits.

That is a work of art! I'm about to redo my own electrical panel and will use your pic for inspiration.

Lovely layout on that one! I too am a bit of a meticulous person so I understand the reasoning.

My winter project is redoing my panel(and pulling new wires)

Re: Electrical panel updated

I prefer DIN terminals with ferrules over the standard marine installation. Terminal density is 2x or 3x so less panel space is required, but more depth is required. And it can be a challenge to route more wires in a smaller place. Two-level terminals allow you to route + and - together. Jumpers are more compact and continuous.

But I could probably give you the model # of that AB PLC in the second photo, so I know I have a bias.
