Determining the age of Trojan T-105's

I have no stamp on my battery terminals. Weird.

I do have some info from the bottom of the battery. Not sure if it can be of any use.

In big print it says CAV 5 #84

And then there are two little dials that have arrows on them both pointed towards the number 5.

Busted, the 2 little arrows are likely "date clocks" and if both are pointing to 5, suggest May 2005. Normally date clocks have month around the outside and the center will have the year (2 digit) with an arrow pointing to the correct month. This is assuming that the date clocks are kept up to date and very often they are not. I have just ordered a bunch of "14" center inserts but I have several molds with old dates and lots with 2011 so don't put a lot of credence in the molded in dates. Many customer do not want to spend the money to update the date clocks. And remember, this is the molded date, not the manufactured date. Cavity 5 identifies the mold used. While it might be a 2 cavity mold, this is more likely the 5th mold made. We just started construction of mold # 4893 in the custom molding shop I work at.

So there is no way to determine the specific age of the batteries without the imprint on the pos and neg terminals?

Also, Ed I'm a little confused do you manufacure t105s?

Ben-
Battery makers have mainly gotten sneaky. There's often a date code near the top of the battery, but on a side and UNDER a label. So you may have to peel back any one of the labels on the battery, in order to find a date code that is either printed or heat embossed into the case. AFAIK every mfr. puts an "indelible" date code on their battery so they can have a way to date them for warranty issues, even without a receipt.
Give Trojan or a dealer a call, they'll tell you where the secret code is, and how to decrypt it. Or pull off the labels and start exploring. (I think the phone call is easier.)

No but I have worked for another company that made quite a variety of battery cases. Here is what the date clock looks like:

Positive Terminal- Manufacturing Date. This code indicates the actual date when mechanical assembly of the battery was completed. At this point, electrolyte has not been added to the battery and formation charging has not taken place. LETTER stands for the month and could be anything from A to L (A=January, B=February, C=March, and so on),; NUMBER stands for the date.
Negative Terminal- Shipping Date. This code indicates the month and year when the battery was shipped out of our factory. LETTER stands for the month (see below); NUMBER is the last digit of the year

/A
