Re: Clamp-on DC Multimeter

My ExTech 730 meter was intermittently misbehaving so I contacted ExTech regarding repair/calibration...they volunteered to send me a new replacement under warranty at no charge.

Always refreshing these days to run into a company that supports their product.

Cudos to ExTech!

Inexpensive 400A DC Clamp meter - Flyinglow
Yeah, I grabbed one last year - pretty irresistible at the sale price. I have some concern about their loop-current accuracy, especially at the sub-10A range, and it lacks a current zero button found on other units, but definitely handy for basic current checking.

I don't see it anymore on the CT website so maybe it's been discontinued.

Re: Clamp-on DC Multimeter

I'm looking for a clamp on multimeter too and the Mastech MS-2108 definitely looks promising. How's it do accuracy wise at the low end of it's resistance measurements? How about with DC volts, what's the resolution? I was looking at the Fluke 325 as well and it seems great but its SO expensive! My thinking is even if I bought a Fluke and it lasted me 20 years, by that time there could be meters that work like a tricorder from Star Trek or something! lol

Thanks for the heads-up on the Mastech 2108. I've been putting away pennies for a Fluke...but that's a lot of pennies.

Be careful what you order if from Amazon.

My first one I though was defective so I returned it. The next one was labeled as a 2108 but was a 2108A (not at all the same). The next one was the same. (PocketStore)

I will buy something in the future I guess since it is not a priority. Bad taste in my mouth right now.
