Chinese Batteries

Some one gave me a pair of Chinese 8D batteries. Are there any opinions on them?
They are wet cells, less than a year old, the friend who gave them to me is a boat broker and these were pulled out because the new owner wanted AGM's.
The other part of the equation is that I already have 2 gell cell ( not AGM's) 8D's- which are obviuosly not compatible. ( plus my whole system is set up for gells Has anyone rigged up battery banks with switches for different battery types?
these two chinese batts would give me something approaching 900AH. And I have the space, and weight carrying capacity to carry them.
THanks

Seeing you've go the room and the price was right just install them and keep the settings for gell cells. This will not charge the wet cells as well but at least you will not fry your gells. Will your alternator charge 900 AH. ?

Maybe set them up as a second house bank...keeping the same alternator/regulator settings which will not be ideal...but then you could fit them independently with a dockside charger with the proper AGM settings so that they could be properly and separately charged when at the dock. AGM's REALLY do not like being undercharged. So...unless you are gonna be able to charge them right every couple of weeks at a minimum, you will ruin them.
