No, the fuel cell is just a battery charger. everything runs off the batteries. when the batteries get down to a certain level, the fuel cell kicks in, and charges the batteries. You don't run directly off the fuel cell

No absolutely none of the other high-end AGMs came close wrt the ability to recover full capacity after PSOC abuse.

It seems they are unique among LA chemistries, and I believe have the patents to keep it that way.

LFP is even better, so as the pricing on integrated systems comes down I think that'll be the way to go handing chronic PSOC in the future.

Beauty of Firefly is the currently much lower cost, and ability to drop into an existing setup designed for lead.

Problem is their ability to ramp up production and keep QA high, currently waitlisted a couple months.

Re: Carbon foam agm's

The Firefly production facility in Peoria has limited capacity and is completely overwhelmed by the orders we currently already have in from our regional distributors (over 700 batteries). Firefly has been setting up a factory in India and few hundred from that facility will be arriving in Peoria soon. They will be testing them in Peoria and we'll be testing some here as well (Maine). If the batteries measure up to specs we'll release them to the marine market.
No promises, fingers crossed...

Do you think they will ever expand the range to different sizes?

Yes, they have some prototype L16 style we hope to test soon. Those are the tall skinny type, 4V x 400AH (eventually supposed to be 450Ah, or 2V x 900Ah). These will be aimed at larger capacity banks.

Have money in the bank, contact Bruce directly and ask for him to recommend a dealer close to you with a relatively short backlog, and get your name down on the waitlist.

Re: Carbon foam agm's

A decent-sized first shipment from the new Firefly facility in India has recently arrived, and we are capacity testing some in our shop now. If all goes well will be releasing about 400 units to fill some of the distributor back orders (that's some, not all). Will keep a good number held in reserve for any possible warranty issues. Could be another couple months before the next container arrives...

Retail around $650ea, however we still don't have any of those to test yet.
