Can't get 2 of 8 new 6v batteries past 89%

I just bought 8 new NAPA 8144N 6v golf cart batteries. 6 of them charge up fine using car charger, but 2 of them only get to 89% and 6.2v vs 6.4v at rest. Specific gravity of electrolytes tests high (1.3 or above) on all cells.

I've heard that these deep cycle batteries take time to get "broken in".

Is it true? Or should I return them?

Unfortunately, I bought them in George Town, Exumas but am in Luperon, DR.

Thanks in advance for all advice.

If those two behave significantly different than the other six, I'd return them if you can. If not, you might consider proceeding with just the "good" six batteries in your house bank. That will give you upwards of 660AH which should be workable enough on a 38-footer.

RE: breaking-in, yes, it's true that FLA batteries require a number of cycles before they attain their rated capacity. However, capacity is not the same as state-of-charge nor of specific gravity. I would guess that breaking-in is not the problem with these two batteries, especially since the other six seem fine.
