Cannot turn off Heart Freedom 20

A new problem. I cannot turn off the inverter with the remote panel. It will go off if I turn off the AC input and will stay off when I turn the AC back on. Inverter is located in a spot of poor access.
Yes, I know it is ancient and past it's design life.
Normally is always on while at the dock and normally off away from the dock.

Will be adding a small inverter for normal small AC loads but want to keep this old unit for running power tools and occasional kitchen loads when we head out cruising later this month.

Something I can troubleshoot or just add a large disconnect ( something I was planning to do) ?

I'm not sure what you are talking about. turning off an AC breaker will ENGAUGE an inverter. not stop it. it sounds like you are trying to turn off the charger?

every inverter / charger should have it's own battery switch. (and class T fuse)

No, the charger is intergral to the inverter. And yes, in an ideal world, there would be a dedicated switch and class T fuse (not sure class T was common 25 years ago) but neither of these are my issue.
Might this be in the remote switch or more likely in the unit itself?

Re: Cannot turn off Heart Freedom 20

If it's as old as I think (pre-1998), as is my Freedom 15, there are or should be switches on the top of the unit. I understand it's hard to get to them, but how often do you need to do so? The manuals are available in the discontinued section on Xantrex's website.

I ran my unit manually for a few years before i installed my Link 2000 to run it. The charger always comes on when you plug it, but that's not always a bad thing, right?
