Cabin-top AC

There must be a reason why I've never seen one of these on a yacht's cabin-top:

Gree RVA-135R ID

How come?
Current draw?
Too fragile for the marine environment?

Just wondering...

Re: Cabin-top AC

Noise, size, ugly, condensate drains outside on the cabin roof, you lose a hatch.

Regular marine AC is invisible, roof top AC's aren't.
Many commercial vessels run these due to cost, I've even seen regular house units sitting on the cabin roof of shrimp boats in the gulf, lots cheaper than marine units and lots more BTU's.

Re: Cabin-top AC

at 40.7" long, it could be difficult to fit. Suspiciously cheap compared to name brand RV roof a/c's
