Busbar Connection / Rating

If I have a multi-stud busbar and connect the highest draw circut onto the same stud as the battery cable, is that load included when determining the bus size rating? I'm leaning towards not, as no current is actually traveling thru the bus from that particular ciircut. But have been wrong in my tinking before.

Thanks

No, the mounting stud would just be a mechanical device to hold the two lugs on the battery cables together.

That said, it sounds like you're trying to save a few bucks on the bus bar....not always a wise thing to do.

Re: Busbar Connection / Rating

Actually I have a Blue Seas 600A bus to handle the 350A total load, so am fine as far as rating. Was more for my curiosity for best wiring layout since I will have to double up on a couple of the studs. Just thought best to put the battery cable and the invertor(highest draw) on the same stud, vs a lower draw circut and battery cable.

Thanks

Very good thinking but... I would have leaned the other way.

But I guess I'd have leaned the wrong way.

Cheers,

Re: Busbar Connection / Rating

Your buss should be able to handle far more than your cables. If you are concerned about the buss amperage, better look closely at cable ampacity.
