breaker question

On my breaker panel I have a 20 amp circuit breaker which was for the old 12v solar panels. The new panels are 48 volts, and though 4 times the watts of my old panels they are also 4 times the voltage, so the amps are the same. This breaker for my old solar panels is also independent, not connected by the same bus bar to the other 12volt breakers. So my question is this, can I use this breaker for the 48 volt connection?

schooner...what make/model panels do you have and how are they wired together?

4 sharp 175's in series and in parallel. It's the absolute max I would want to do safely with an outback 60 charger.

2 in series connected to two in parallel and from that last parallel connection coming back to the outback charger through the breaker panel. 48 volts and about 10 amps being dropped down to 40 amps 12volt.

If these are 12V pannels, just connect in series. If not, I suggest that you get a new controler, so much better than something 10 years old.
