Bayliner 2455 Shore Supply

Hi! I have just bought an imported US Bayliner 2355 and I was wondering if the 125V electric supply system will work with the UK 240V supply. Has anyone any advice?

no it won't. i've changed over many boats from 240v 50hrz to 120v,240 60hrz or the other way around. many sailboats that come into the yard i work at take a 240 shore power cord and use that. some do have isolation transformers on board so it's not as dangerous. your equipment on board will still be 50hrz but no one i've talked to has had any problems without an isolation transformer you have to make sure the neutral and ground on board is not connected. on boats that want just 120v you have to take out most of your ac current devices.

Thanks for that. The main reason I want shore power is to use the TV microwave etc. I read that I may need an International Electrical Conversion Unit. Any ideas where these can be bought?

the microwave will work fine, just the clock will act up . the tv for dvd's obviously will work but for antenna reception you'll probably have to buy a new tv. they're pretty cheep.

For what it's worth, an autotransformer is going to make your system less efficient. It is not a long term solution.
