Battery operated red led interior lights?

I feel like I've seen these around, but can't find a source online. Appreciate any pointers.

Goal: add surface mount red interior lights without running wires. e.g. reach inside the companionway a tap the light on the ceiling or side wall and have some modest red interior illumination. Similar for galley, head, etc.

I have the below at home and could just add red film, but thought I'd be able to get the red versions directly and there would be more light output per watt.

Under counter led lights w/ light and motion sensor so they only come on at night. Battery or USB charged versions.

I have these at the base of walls to illuminate floor paths at night.

Not what you are looking for but maybe helpful in some cases where light already installed.
Marinebeam has LED's that fit in existing fixtures that have a lower red light and a higher
white light. Just hit switch once and red goes on hit again and white comes on.
Have installed in boat in various places.

It's red. Put it ON and go upstairs. When you come back down it will still be on.

Re: Battery operated red led interior lights?

I bought a lot of LED stuff from dx.com, including my red night time lights. Mine are wired though, but they have a huge catalogue and free shipping

Re: Battery operated red led interior lights?

We have an LED light from Mantus that is either red or white and chargeable through USB. It is designed to clamp to a stainless steel tube (like a Bimini support) but you may be able to come up with something that will work for what you want to do.

Good luck!

You might also consider buying RGB lights. There are tons of options from strip lights, hard lights, under car lights etc... Just leave them on red.

You can buy red led bulbs to retrofit existing fixtures. 10 red LED 12v single contact retrofit bulbs cost me $6 on amazon. I gave half away, swap in the rest for the regular warm light LEDs when necessary. Rest of the time, the red bulbs reside in a sealed box in my small spares locker.

Re: Battery operated red led interior lights?

Mark-
I know the EE's among us will cringe, but if you can't find what you want, consider this. Red LED's are fairly cheap and easy to buy, including the larger "5mm" size. They tend to be robust creatures that will run on 3V battery sources without any complaint, without any regulation, without any issues. If you have white or other LED lamps that do the job, take a small multimeter and measure the voltage at the base of the LED. If it is around 3...just unsolder it and put in a red LED instead.
You can get more precise and if necessary add a voltage dropping resistor in there, or just overvolt the LED and still expect a long life from it. All depends on what you can find and whether you want to bother. (I guess I'm spoiled, we made flashlights in 4th grade class, using those big "B" cell doorbell batteries that aren't to be found anymore.)

Re: Battery operated red led interior lights?

Mark,

My personal preference is light only where I need it and only when I need it. I have been using a red LED head lamp with good results: However I don't like the head lamp shining at other people, impacting their night vision. I have been looking for something that will clip on and mostly shine down. I have been thinking of giving these a try http://a.co/j9EUypV

My thought is get one for each crew member.

As an aside...I was recently on board a Maine Cat 38 with very well done white LED strip lighting behind valences down in both hulls and around the cockpit. Adding additional low lumen red LED strips behind the same valences would be simple and sweet.
