++ Voila! Someone else who does that! Same here - except on a monohull with one engine. The extra 200 amp hours are really welcome in the house bank, the batteries are all used evenly and recharged evenly with fewer deep discharges and less cycling. ++

I agree with you that the add'l 200 a are very welcome addition to the house batteries, that is a reason I was thinking this plus same type, even charging, less cycling, etc.

For Pete7: yes it is a little much batt power for starting but the 2x6v batts only cost about $30 more than a true starter batt.
