Balmar MC-614-H/regulator/no field output

Hello,
Just purchased the noted product to regulate 160 amp alternator. It has been tested and there is no 'field output' and the regulator will not start.....Any suggestions.

Is it being powered? It requires both a continuous connection to 12V and a switched connection to 12V. Is the switched connection working?

Yes ...there is switch and when it is turned on there is a 45 second delay,to allow for engine warm up time. We waited for 2 minutes...still no field output reading. Perhaps there is an adjustment on the Balmar ???

is the unit turning on and displaying info on the lcd screen?

as soon as you turn the engine key on, it should power on and display info. (if you wired it to ign like it should be)

even during the warmup you'll still see field voltage. it's just lower (2v) and ramps up during the 45 secs.

Ask for Rich... he's very helpful. I have a 614 and am completely satisfied with it. Check all connections are clean and properly made.

Go online and download the manual. Go through the troubleshooting steps. Very easy and well written. Actually just had to do this yesterday with my unit.

Good luck
