Bad Electric...

Hi there;

just for fun: I help a friend with his new to him boat. We currently work on the electric. Its bad, real bad: Most of the cables are black (positive and negative). It has four (!) switches (1-both-2) for two battery banks.....and below is a pic of the main positive connection....of course it was wrapped in tape - I guess for safety reasons.

According to the logbook the boat made it over the Atlantic and cruised for several years with this setup. Maybe I'm just picky :-)

Re: Bad Electric...

Very shoddy work - Change that green one to red and you are good to go...

Whatever colors you choose

Basic Battery Wiring Diagrams This is a very good basic primer for boat system wiring: Basic Battery Wiring Diagrams

This is another very good basic primer for boat system wiring: The 1-2-B Switch by Maine Sail (brings together a lot of what this subject is all about)
