Alternator upgrade Yanmar 2QM20

I have a 1978 Yanmar 2QM20 in My Nicholson 31. (knock on wood) it runs perfectly, no oil consumption, clean exhaust etc. Has original alternator and would like to upgrade to something like the Balmer 60 series 70amp. Should I be concerned the larger althernator will place too much demand on the engine? Any other considerations iI should be thinking about? Bob V.

My non-technical view, based on experience is a 70 amp alternator should be o.k.. Yanmar offers as an alternative for my 2YM15 an 80 amp version. However, I have recently relegated a 90 amp alternator to 'spare status' because it is too much for my engine.
