AC power

I have installed two Marinco 30amp 125volt ac receptacles, one on each side of the boat.
I now require a selector switch that I've seen at sometime on the 'net but have no information regarding the make, name, description etc.

The product I saw was a small, compact cylindrical, three position switch having a faceplate worded: Port-Off-Stbd.

If anyone has any information on this product & wher it might be available, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you . . . Bob T.

Re: AC power

look at blue sea systems part 8367, its for a shore/generator switch but it would work fine
or 1481 or 1482--this latter one would be the best, as it is already correctly labelled

Re: AC power

Thanks Dohenyboy for your input, I have looked at the 8367 previously and find it too large for my panel - I cannot see 1481 or 1482 on the website - where did you see them? are you looking at a catalogue, or online?

Re: AC power

Newmar makes a compact switch. Go to Nemar offers DC Power Onboard with AC source switches and switch panels. Newmar has a variety of switches for any boat with an onboard AC generator or inverters. The switch is offered in 30, 63, and 126 amps with 2 poles and 2 to 3 switch positions.

and go down to Special Order to choose the Port and Starboard labeling.

Re: AC power

Why would you bother? Why not just wire them in parallel?

Bob

On Blue Seas site there is a search mode on the upper right. Type in the number (1481, 1482) and it goes to that product.

Wired in parallel the shorepower inlet not in use becomes energized - probably not a good idea.

If they were in parallel, one would be hot even when not plugged in... Now of course only an idiot would test that by unscrewing the cap and licking the prongs... But the prospect of such an opportunity would make an ambulance chasing lawyer salvate all over himself
