I didn't say it was unvented.
There is a opening from that space to the head, via louvered doors and a nicro solar vent that evacuates the space.
AGM'S do not vent under normal circumstances. So its not the same issue.

As far as what one person told you... well.. t here are as many opinions as there are sailors out there. Everyone has a opinion. I would hate to be in a passage off shore in the north pacific and have my battery bank die just because I wanted to save some money. Its a risk, and it might pay off for you. I hope it does. Me, I would replace the bank and be sure. Call it the cost of cruising. But thats just me.
