6V Batteries

After 8yrs., I need to replace the batteries in my 1980 38' Mariner(NH) Pilot House cutter. The bank consists of (4) Deka 9C11's. It is my understanding that Deka no longer manufactures this particular battery.
I am looking for suggestions for suitable replacement batteries.

I used a bank of 4 trogan 6 volt in my motorhome. Got good service out of them.
That's probably what I'll use when I get to that place in re-building my sailboat.

I have (4)the Trojan 105's and they have been a great improvment over my 2 D-4. $ years into the 6v's and I will never go back. Most Battery's are sized similar. I am sure there is a replacemet size for you.

After reading good things about Johnson Controls (JCI), we purchased 4 220ah batteries from Sam's club. They're branded as "Energizers". We've only just gotten started with them but pleased so far. The cost was unbeatable.

we changed out our house bank today from 6 215ah west marine batteries that were 3.5 years old to 6 trojan t105 225ah batteries with a 2 year international guarantee

Costco / Sam's Club 6V batteries tend to be about half the price of Trojans.
The difference is we get 30 holes of golf on the Trojans and 24 on the Costco / Sams if that's any gauge of how they perform.

i had 4 trojan t105's that lasted six years before they started showing signs of old age. went to buy four new ones' and was amazed at their new price. so i went with sam's club golf cart batteries at half the price. that was last year.

We have 6 Lifeline AGMs on board. They soak up power very quickly and efficiently. We picked them up last year so time will tell...

I just bought 4 new Trojan T-105's yesterday after getting 6 years out of my previous ones. Six years is the best I've ever done with a bank of batteries. I've heard of people getting 10 -12 years out of them, but I've never come close to getting that out of any brand battery.

One of these days, I want to try out the Mastervolt slimline batteries. I have a perfect spot for them aboard, but they are pricey and I've heard of folks only getting 3 years out of them. That's not enough bang for the buck for me.

I'm not familiar with the 9C11, but East Penn (Deka) has several models of 6V golf cart batteries on their web site. The GC15's in our travel trailer are about 6 years old and going strong.

Been using 6v cheap golf cart batteries for 23 years of cruising. I replace them every 6 or 7 years, but never because they have been close to failure. Batteries are not complicated, mystical things--lead and acid in a plastic case. I have no idea why folks pay enormous sums for heavily marketed marine cosmic batteries. Yes you have to check them for water and charge them with some regularity. I suspect that marketers have a field day with folks who have too much money to spend or those who blame equipment for their own lack of maintenance or skill. IMHO the same holds true for the periodically introduced "new always sets perfectly anchor", and the refrigeration systems that use nearly NO electricity" we get every few years from the marketing folks. Helps pay for the magazines and boat shows we go to, so I guess all is not lost.

I too have always wondered about the wisdom of paying 50% more for batteries that store 10% more energy...or thereabouts. If one needs that additional 10% then why not add an additional moderately priced battery?
