220 vs 120 from my generator

I have a question for you electrical Savvy guys. I have a westerbeke 8K generator. It has two 120 volt legs. one Services the house loads and the other side Services the air conditioners only. What my question is can I pull a leg off each side and run a 240 volt water heater without affecting the house or the air conditioning loads?

Re: 220 vs 120 from my generator

if the gen is 240v. with 2 out of phase legs. then not an issue. it should have a triple pole main breaker. you'd want to tap in after that.

no effect on other stuff.
