144 v dc battery bank with 48 dc solar charger

Hi everybody

i would like to know if according to you this system can works

144vdc battery bank for propulsion done by 3 x 48 v series bank. ( all with bms)

for every 48 v dc bank there is one solar charger with it's own solar panel.

in this way i should charger the 144v dc battery bank

could it works?

otherwise i should get..

solar panel->48v charger->48v dc battery pack-> 230v ac inverter-> 144v dc battery charger->144v dc battery pack

losing lot in efficiency and also more expensive system and less
reliable...

what do you think about one or maybe two 1-1,5kw kw wind generator on a power boat? should it create more resistance to go forward that of the energy it generates alright? it would be useful just in windy area at the anchor...

Re: 144 v dc battery bank with 48 dc solar charger

You're going to end up with mismatched changed banks. Unless you panels are always receiving identical light and putting out identical amps (impossible) Similur to centre taping a 24vbank for 12v

One option if you can't get controlers that high would be a system that changes the bank into 3 48v banks in parallel to charge when not moving, then back to single bank not being charged while moving.

thanks for the answer...

got it...your idea is not bad but maybe too much ''laborious" (sorry my english) meaning too much to think, to do, while cruising...

maybe have the 48v battery bank separated from the 144v...like 6\7 kw solar panel, goes to the 48v bank, and then 5kw inverter and 4 kw 144v dc charger...48 v bank never get drained too much and cruising slowly it goes pratically for free (if a sunny day)
