Re: 12vdc generators - any good ones out there?

The Honda EU20i can be easily converted to run off LPG, that would be gas gas as we also have petrol here, not gasoline LOL
Though that may be safer than petrol/gasoline, carrying extra cylinders of LPG is a big contra.
Cheers,
Mac

I have heard both opinions as well. It's on my list to buy one and I will be cranking it up while I'm sitting next to it to decide for myself.

It sounds a lot like the controversy over the the Air Breeze wind charger. Some people say it ain't bad, some say it sounds like a weed whacker. I have one in a box ready to install so I sure hope my experience is the former. I do have to confess I rowed by an anchored boat a couple of weeks ago that had an old model Air Breeze. A little gust came by and and when the blades started spinning it did sound like a weed whacker.

Re: 12vdc generators - any good ones out there?

Here's one story; I play in a Blues Band. for a couple of years we played a summer party down by the river. No power so they rented a big gen set the first year. The second year we get all set up on the big 40 ft trailer and I cant find the gen set. I talk to the "powers that be" and they say "it's right there"... I'm literally standing next to it and it's running. The little 2000i powered the whole band for 4 hours and never needed gas!

Re: 12vdc generators - any good ones out there?

here Ive used the EU10i, 20i and even the 30i Honda units. Great reliable , good workhorses, Thirsty if loaded. But all that reving up and down, I dont regard them as quiet

Friend of mine has a EU65is, havent seen it yet , will see it next week , 6500 W at 230VAC inverter based!!!

Common fuel with the dink, so no big deal. If the little hondas annoy you, wait till you hear an open frame generator go off on someones afterdeck. The sound pressure is probably 10x, and a harsher tone, too.

thats when I really miss my friend Mr. Mossberg.

fuel for dink I carry in a 25 litre plastic tank, Hondas eat quite a bit of fuel in my experience.

What? Why you're an Englishman, an European, you're supposed to be fully socialized, what, violence out of some minor annoyance like someone with a loud generator?! You sound like one of those American troglodytes. You're supposed to be writing petitions to the European Commission, not taking matters into your own hands. Anyway, what's wrong with Mr. Holland and Mr. Holland, eh? Mossberg - it's so - declasse.

Hollande ( with an e, ignorant foreigner).

It may suprise you , but us Europeans over this side have a far bigger track record for collectively reaching for a Mossberg, then almost anywhere else on the planet. !!

The jodhpurs are only for show you know,

Dave

Ah, yes, sorry, forgot the bit of unpleasantness in 1939-45, as an example. True, you Euro guys can slaughter people with the best of us. Respect.

Bet they weren't using a giant stack of Marshalls for the PA. I'm thinking that would choke a 2000i.

Of course your example is completely invalid anyway. If you play in a Blues Band how much hearing do you have left? Could you even hear the big gen set from the first year?

Can anyone give me some performance reports?

Thanks,

What is the boat wired for? If the boat is wired for only 50 amps having a bigger gen is not the answer. For 50 amps all you need is a 6 or 8 kw. A 10 kw will produce 80 amps which are common. Also is there space and does of the boat the displacement for a large generator.
