Winch sizes

I want to have winch covers made before returning to my boat.

Can somebody please let me know the various winch sizes on the 450. Mine is a 2015 model and I believe winches are Harken.

I think the power Dinghy winch is a 40.2 ST.

Only 1 power "manœuvre" winch at helm station - I think a 50.2 ST.

Others at helm are manual - possibly 60.2 ST.

Is this correct?

Re: Winch sizes

The L450F winches are Harken 2 x 60.2ST, 2 x 50.2ST and 1 x 40.2ST.

I just serviced mine last week after 5 years. The 4 up top were really good and didn't really need the service and the dinghy one needed a bit more of a clean and re-grease. I wouldn't bother with covers?

The first one I serviced took 2 hours but getting more logical with laying out the gears got it down to 40 mins.

Are the Code 0/ spinnaker winches the 50.2 ? I need to install 2 on my S, also I found Harken Canvas do a great winch cover and bought those at the same price as locally made ones but Harken are a much higher quality.

Re: Winch sizes

The sheets for the jib, gennaker and spinnaker go on the 60s. The 50s are used for the halyards.

Re: Winch sizes

Dave is correct, sizes are Harken 2 x 60.2ST, 2 x 50.2ST and 1 x 40.2ST.
But unlike Dave, I would recommend covers. We've been in locations/anchorages where dust, grime, coal soot, sand blows all over your boat and you'd want to avoid this getting into your winches.

Re: Winch sizes

The 450S has three 60s at the helm station for halyards, reefs and sheets. The spinnaker and Code 0 sheets can't run to these like they can on the F so winches are mounted either side of the cockpit above the aft berths. It's these two I need to install and guessing 50s would be best for this purpose. Any one with an S that can advise the size Lagoon installs?

Hi Rick

Yes I know the Blue Performance covers - they are good.

My on-line research is turning up a variety of sizes. Could I please ask you to have a look at the Blue Performance cover sizes on your Lagoon. I think I need a #6 for the 40.2 and #9 for the rest

HI,

We have the Harken 60, 50, and 40's... The 60 takes a size 9 cover, the 50 takes a size 7, and the 40 takes a size 4....

Regards, Rick
