Washing machine on a Lagoon 400S2 4 cabin version?

Hi, just wondering if a standard front loader washing machine can be fitted to the 400 S 2. I believe that the 3 cabin version can accommodate a washer, but unsure about the 4 cabin.

Thanks.

I was just being a goof with the NO comment.
I am installing a Miele in my 400s2 and it will be located where the microwave is currently located.
The best solution for my needs.Click image for larger version

You can see the cabinet on the left over the pantry, I will remove the microwave cabinet and put the washing machine there.

That picture does not have a pantry, the second fridge is there, mine does not have the fridge.

Re: Washing machine on a Lagoon 400S2 4 cabin version?

I've been looking for one of those all in one RV machines, 120 volt small washer/drier, that is broken to get the drum, drive mechanism and door, basically I think I can reinvent the wheel, make it much smaller without the outer case, don't need the drier part, a wringer and clothes line is fine, and probably make it possible to recycle most of the water, dump it in a drum and filter it for reuse.

It may seem like a great idea to put a washer/dryer on your vessel, It is not. As an old hand with these, you will find that most every marina has a washer/dryer room for people or in port a shore based laundry will work fine and if on the hook and you need clean clothes salt water or fresh and a rail to dry on and you will not be sorry. The best laid plans of washer/dryer turns into
long periods of non use and then as if by magic just when toy need it for use it doesn't work and after a few curses you suddenly realize I should never have put this thing in.
By the way if you do go the washer/dryer route, stay away from Splendide, they fail too often. If your trying to please the little women or are the little women just remember if its a boat and can fail, it will fail when you need it most...

Re: Washing machine on a Lagoon 400S2 4 cabin version?

I've had a bit of a different experience with Splendide. We inherited a combo vented type on our 1981 42' GB. I believe due to model and serial number it was about 8 to 10 years old before it bit the dust. We were able to find another new one with "same" dimensions which made for an easy swap out and we now have 3 years on it trouble free. We run it during the day, and even at marinas if the laundry room is far away. It is only the two of us normally, so small loads have proven to be the answer for both washing and for drying. Water use seems to be around 8 gallons per use.

Re: Washing machine on a Lagoon 400S2 4 cabin version?

I had a Splendide and the drying function was a joke.
A high end compact machine with a robust spin cycle will get the clothes a dry.
The Splendide had a small capacity, one beach towel at a time kind of small.
The compact Miele that will be on my 400 will be triple the capacity..
As for my refrigeration I have the supplied fridge and 2 Engel 45 quart freezers.
I load up the freezers then eat my way out of one then shut down the empty freezer and reduce my electrical load. It seems to work well and the Engel is bulletproof and efficient.
The cost is high but the payback is worth it.
If you se merit in my choice start with one freezer then if needed add the second, I want to have a place to keep fish caught on passage.

Re: Washing machine on a Lagoon 400S2 4 cabin version?

I have a Lagoon 421 cruising version ie 4 cabins so no space for the washing machine in the port forward area. I had built a cabinet that sits behind the helm. Since the space is totally wasted (except for a view) it is a great location. I also have a Splendide and so far hasn't fallen apart. Suggest get an extended warranty if your worried. Also fitted 3x265W solar panels on the davits which are enough with the 2000W inverter to run the washing machine during a sunny day and still have enough left in bank. Don't use the dryer unless we really need to. Water usage is ok but we also have a dessolator 60l/hr water maker which has just failed after 500 hrs. In the process of changing the seals on the pump. Having a water maker a god send if you have a washing machine and want to cruise off the beaten track.

Likewise that is very nice bit of installation. Does not look like a tacked on after thought. Good use of that space aswell.

Hi Dave, I’m impressed, you could probably utilise to top as table space I suppose.

I now have just one problem................. acquiring a Lagoon 400 S2
