Re: Washing machine on a Lagoon 400S2 4 cabin version?

Looks OK, I assume it is or will be bolted down. I purchased an Lg Washer Dryer WD 3245RHD on eBay, I just need to figure out an inexpensive way to get it from Dallas to south Florida. Even Kansas or Branson would help. Then I can start my process of figuring out where to put it. I'm told the only thing wrong with it is a ripped door seal. They say the replacement part is no longer made. Should be able to fix that somehow though.

As you can see in this picture the location of the washer was the old location of the cabinet that gave home to the microwave.
Having the washing machine is a better use of space.
I will post up pictures when I'm all done with the install.
If Laurie and I were normal, and in no way are we that, I probably would not have a washing machine, but we are active runners and cyclists and we get sweaty every day and make tons of laundry. So there it is our little cleaning machine.

Re: Washing machine on a Lagoon 400S2 4 cabin version?

I would look for some way to secure the top with bolts also, if you ever plan to use this while sailing. 100 pounds of water plus 100 pound of washing machine with a 2 foot lever arm might be too much for the bottom bolts or the cabinet structure to hold. Even if you don't plan to use while sailing, I suspect stuff might get stored in it adding weight. It could sure do some damage flying across the boat, might even go through the opposite wall and deep 6 itself.

Can you fit a full size sheet or a pair of jeans in it? I assume you got this

Panda mini couner-top Washing machine with a capacity of 5.5lbs/2.5kg - Rakuten.com

Should be fine for socks, underwear, T shirt, and shorts, normal Caribbean wear.

Yes that is the one and you could put in a pair of jeans in. The capacity is much larger than you think. The retailer suggested that delicate items be put in a washing bag as the agitator can twist the items . as you say Carribean wear is just fine and was our target. The mechanics of it seem very solid . WE would of bought the one with the spin dryer but space was not there. I took it on the plane as my 2nd piece of luggage

For me the spin dryer is more important than the washer, I've had a SpinX for a long time, it recovers the fresh but dirty water, and reduces drying tremendously. I've alway considered the SpinX would be part of my washing solution, wash in the bottom half of a plastic 55 gal drum tub with a hand operated bathroom plunger with T handle and then into the SpinX before rinse in separate tub, then SpinX and hang dry in about an hour or less. Even after the RV washer drier is installed the SpinX may still find a spot on the boat, not sure, it depends on the spinning action of the new machine. Line dry will still probably be the preferred dying method.

My Bosch has a massive tub, loads are big and the spin RPM is very high.
I had a combo and would say the spin is better than the dry function on the combo, way faster and way quieter. You get what you pay for, cheap is cheap, quality is always something worth paying for.
We are very happy with our choice

Re: Washing machine on a Lagoon 400S2 4 cabin version?

hi,
i am going to install a washing machine on my L400S2 too, but outside below the helm station, sometime there is another fidge, but on our L400S2 there is just another locker, and therefore i am thinking about installing the machine there.
it is amost space for a standard washing machine, something like 560*600*850 mm.
there is a strong frame, stainless steel, now holding the locker in its position.
strong enough to fix the washing machine.
easy to install the water and waste for the washing machine from rear cabine.
maybe i have to "unpack2 the machine and throw away its stell casing.

We found a good void behind original cupboard for washing machine, starboard side under chart table. Nice to have a 7kg machine, great spin cycle washing does not take long to dry, also works at anchor with our small 2kw Yamaha generator on cold cycle.

Sukram33,
I recommend that you measure very, very carefully before you start installing anything in this space. Be careful not to interfere with the steering cable that run under the proposed site of your washer.
I installed another Vitrifrigo fridge ( bad choice, I know!) in this space. I thought I had plenty of space above the cables, however the front face of the cupboard is deceptively slanted backwards, so the rear lower edge of our fridge sat much closer to the steering cables than we anticipated. Phew! No problems, but we were glad the unit wasn't any deeper. Also, make sure that you can waterproof seal around the washer as water entering will penetrate past steering, electrical components and into the hull liners. A waterproof hatch door would be ideal.
I second Katsumi's suggestion as a location for a washing machine.
