Symmetrical Spinnaker Size

I'm looking at buying a symmetrical spinnaker for my L450F. Based on some research, I was able to find a recommended size of 60' x 37'. I've found a used sail that is 1.5 oz and 58' x 38'. Any comments or suggestions?

I plan on just using it as a backup spinnaker and having a new one made as the primary.
Thanks.

1.5 oz, you would not want to leave it up too long... Better than the ultra lite 3/4 oz, but not to fly in say over 10 knts apparent.. ??

I have a Parasail Symetrical, as well as an Asymetrical. On my Saba 50, it is 1880 square meters... Pure racing Parasail I would say, too scared to put it up without a crew...

Even though it is full socked.. still scared..

The first picture is of the Parasail Spinnaker, sunny yellow, the blue one is the asymetrical....

Both have socks and big scoop, I would not run them without. The Parasail has a big spring base stand up block on the bow of each hull on the Saba. It is all too much for me Single Handling.. Scares me....

After research, for Symetric Spinaker I'm planning to put a 168m2 Wingaker on my 450F. Not sure what that is your dimensions.

I've been suggest the 155m2 and the 169m2 prob going with the larger one.
I know a Saba 50 has the 190m2, for comparison. (Lady Rosyln)

Hope that helps.

Regards

Mark.

Re: Symmetrical Spinnaker Size

The L450 manual says symmetric spinnaker is 2044 sq ft. The"I" is 58ft 3" so this should be ok.

Hey Mark,
I hope you are enjoying your cruise! We bought a 168 sqm Wingaker and love it! Easy to set up and hoist just with my wife and myself. Highly recommend it.
Cheers

I'm not surprised you're scared! That's nearly 1/2 an acre!

Probably close enough that you'd hardly notice the difference.

Thanks for the feedback, good to know !.

We've tossed lots of options, but pretty settled on the wingaker, despite the extra cost.

Need something to take us downwind back to Australia

Cruising is great, currently in Ionian.

Regards

Mark.
