Well, now i know what that black button is for in my 1982 Cape Dory. I won't need to holler forward to have the Admiral turn on the pump soon as i figure out why it's not working.

Coincidently our relay just started acting so I'll give Roetter's suggestion a go. Good relay timing!

Like most things in life, it may not be the best of systems, but it works and you get used to it. Ive no complaints on the Lagoon shower system apart from the very occasional failing parts.

As it turned out, while I was carrying the part around to different yacht chandlery and electric supply stores, I think maybe the rust got knocked off the coil. At any rate, once I hooked it back up, the system began working.

Technicians at a reliable marine electric service company informed me that the ETA time relay is usually very reliable with noted exception that the coil inside tends to be the component that fails.

As a foot note, the large electric supply warehouse on Sint Maarten after making numerous calls to their suppliers and hours researching on the Internet were unable to locate a source. I too am unable to locate a source on the Internet.

There were several posts related to the design of the shower sump pump system as installed by Lagoon. Having lived with it now for going on ten months, the crew likes the system. To each their own I say.......Fair winds

Timer Relay 0.5s - 6hr



12V & 24V timer relays with adjustable timer control. This relay can be set to time between 0.5 seconds and 6 hours, so is suitable for numerous applications.


Just ordered a couple of these form Marks website suggestion in post #7

Timer Relay 0.5s - 6hr

Should be direct replacement and time adjustable. Will advise once fitted on how they work out. Should solve the short run time issue.

Yes

Recommended fuse size for Whale Gulper 320 pump is 10 amps, so 10 amp relay will be fine for this application.

Call me strange but I prefer to have both hands free when in the shower. Maybe it depends how long and what you do in the shower I suppose.

haha, yeah, but you don't need water to drain continuously. Get too much water, run the pump for a few seconds. I had two boats setup this way.
-no float switch
-no relay
-no sump collector box to smell or leak or crack or locate in some space you cant get to.

Thanks. Might replace our new relay with this. 15 s isn't long enough to drain the water. I have to hit the switch a few times, I let it pool up a bit and make little swimming pool for my feet;-)

Is is IP rated for waterproof/resistant? Didn't see that on spec sheet

If it works all ok will mount in small plastic watertight box.

arrived from AES UK took 8 days from shipment to arrival over Xmas.
Cost including freight to Oz
86.71 British pounds = $72 AUD each delivered.

Adjusted selector switch to 5 to 60 seconds range other dial to approx 3/4 range swapped for old relay and presto push button pump runs for 45 seconds and turns off.
Very happy wife so very happy life.

I know this is an old thread but... would you happen to know where, physically, the relay is located. I have purchased those adjustable time relays and want to install them. I am particularly interested in the non-owners suite bathrooms
