Going 32AWA at a realistic 5 knots bspd in the same 7.5TWS would give you 3.03 knots VMG, much better ! see VMG to Wind calculator at L-36.com
not that great vmg, but doing 6.3kn in 7.5kn true at 37 app is special.

Re: New Lagoon 460

I really hope the 46 improves at least at some points of sail. It is hard to replace such a successful model like the 450 but I guess the will have to prove the benefits of the new 46 in order to keep their clients happy. I’m sure that the time and the effort to develope this model will be worth it. Can’t wait to see more pictures and the inside and outside layout.

I am considering an upgrade. A new L50 was anchored next to me the other day, I don't like the interior (from the pictures I saw) and I really don't like the look of the bows. The L52 really looks good but way to heavy. 4 days ago a saba 50 and a L52 were motoring same direction in about 1.5 meters sea, the saba was doing good, the L52 going slower was hobby horsing like crazy. The new L42 is really nice with those wide open sugar scoop, so cool and so easy to jump in from the dinghy ! but it is a pig in light wind. I know I raced it (friend of mine) last month upwind, I was doing 5+ kn while the L42 was barely moving, white sails. The old L57(0) is a beast but I would miss the flybridge. Well, I am stuck. Contemplating the L500, but missing all the cool features of the new generation. The L500 with the new wide open cockpit and easy dinghy access would be so cool ! New models ? what were they thinking ?!

The renders on the facebook page are similar.
Its the same look like all the new models. Mast stepped back. more windows ,
one floor Level , etc
The interior for sure looks fantastic

The new name is 46

The launch will not be in Cannes

Someone will like it others will stay with the 450 ....

We like how the 450 sails . And we like the storage space , lockers etc.
Do you know if the galley and cabin layout will be the same?

Sport top option?

Thanks!

There's a render of the salon/galley on the Facebook links upthread.

Re: New Lagoon 460

Maybe the aspect ratio on the layout images is just stretched, but they make the boat look incredibly porky?

Maybe it's my imagination, but I don't think I've seen another cruising catamaran with as wide hulls to length/beam. But maybe all that extra width is above the waterline? It does seem to flare out quite a bit under the... bridge deck? Salon sole? I'm not sure what the correct term is. I guess while I'm at it, is there a specific term for hull width on a catamaran or is it just "hull beam"?

Any thoughts?

Really nice hull interiors though. And happy to see the large forward salon vents/pass-throughs becoming a standard feature on most new boats.
