Need More Usable Storage

Hi all have a 1-year-old Lagoon 421, that I need more useable storage
in Galley, Saloon area for food and kitchen equipment etc.
Any ideas or photos of what has worked for you appreciated.

Re: Need More Usable Storage

No responses?

My first suggestion is to look for ways to need LESS usable storage, which is an important part of the cruising lifestyle.

The second is to look to those port bunks, unless you have a full family on board.

Finally, how many heads do you have on board? I contend that most people really only need one. Some of these boats have 4! One of those, at least, is a storage closet.

If your bunks and heads are already full, you're probably overloaded.

The up-galley is a key reason many people choose the Lagoons, myself included, but the lack of storage is the compromise we make.

In my past travels, I've put together very small sets of cookery that cover a lot of cooking situations - an deep lipped skillet with a lid, for example, is extremely versatile. A 2qt saucepan (also with a lid) covers pretty much the rest of it. A cutting board, and possibly a colander if you can nest it with a mixing bowl - yeah that mixing bowl is key.

The inside of the oven is a good place to keep the skillet and lid which is the utensil I use most often. I have a heavy iron skillet with 3" depth.

Re: Need More Usable Storage

PaulinOz,

Find a local cabinet maker and draw up some cabinet plans.
Looks like room above you saloon windows.
Can have a nice large cabinet made for over your stove, mounted to ceiling.

I am doing this on my boat and its working out nicely.
