Re: My new Hardtop and Clears

Nice job, PaulinOz. Just in time for the bleak North Queensland winter; when we all shiver as the temperature plummets below 20 degrees C.

Roll down clears rather than roll up should mean less flapping. What product did you use for the clears?

"Roll down clears rather than roll up should mean less flapping." That is the idea we will see if it pans out, all panels can individually be rolled up / taken off / have the shade put down, so hoping to be a lot more comfortable be it Hot/ Wet/ or possibly cold but not up here I think.

What product did you use for the clears?
Front Screens are Strata Glass
The sides and rear are Vybak ll.

Very nice Paul. I am going to copy the idea to cover the furling line block. Cheers, Dave

Good products. Try to cover when not using, in order to maximise life and clarity.

BTW, that hardtop ceiling needs a highlight; perhaps a chandelier?

Re: My new Hardtop and Clears

Have been sailing for past 5 days, heading North to Port Douglas (Mickey Ink Race week), this addition to the boat is just the best, has taken being up on the fly bridge in weather from camping to 5 star accommodation. In 25 knots of true wind the boss was sitting next to me doing some art work. The only mistake was not getting it sooner.

The only addition it needs now is some grab rails, internal and external to finish it off. Will try to do that when in Port Douglas.

Re: My new Hardtop and Clears

As noted, great looking design, have you considered a glass sliding hatch for the skipper to see the mainsail? Also good place to mount additional solar panels. Who fabricated the hard top? Cheers

Re: My new Hardtop and Clears

"Looks fantastic". Thankyou, we are so happy with the results so far, it makes a very big difference from the Standard Lagoon Bimini to our comfort when sailing both from a sun and wind protection standpoint.

"have you considered a glass sliding hatch for the skipper to see the mainsail?"

Considering a pair of Hatches to put in just deciding on the best position for view on each tack and also if ventilation is required.

"Also good place to mount additional solar panels."
Probably with 2 kW already on rear of boat that is not so high on list at present, but I will never say never.

"Who fabricated the hard top?"
My design done by a shipwright in Townsville, Stainless work done by Mick from MDE Townsville and Clears by Kent from Slick Trim Townsville.

Also need some grab rails both Internal and External will look into it once this Regatta that we are involved in at Port Douglas is over.
