42: Looking for 2016 Lagoon 42 on U.S. East Coast to Tour

My wife and I are on the cusp of ordering a new Lagoon 42. Obviously a very exciting prospect, but also a major financial commitment. We could not make the boat shows this year and we are hoping to find a new Lagoon 42 on the U.S. East Coast to step onboard and tour. It is a bit of a leap of faith to purchase a boat one has never seen in person. If anyone can help or has advice, please contact me.

We purchased Lagoon 42 after last year's ABS. Sight unseen. Yes, Big leap of faith. Finally saw hull #2 at Miami BS. Very impressed. Mine will be coming out of factory (I hope) in July and then in BVI October.

Doesn't solve your problem of one to look at close by but if I can answer any questions, please PM me.

Hi Jim

There are no new Lagoon 42's on the east coast as far as I am told.

However, there is a demonstrator in Clear Lake, Texas by "The Yacht Sales Company". It is the same boat that was used for Lagoon's photo shoot in the Bahamas in February.

I have one on order for delivery in December. If you have any questions, would be glad to help any way I can.

Anyone get any Joy with finding a L42 to look at ?

Other than the one in Clear Lake, dosn't seem anyone has got one that I can find ! Nor which show one is going to be at 'for sure'. (Either in US or Europe !)


Silly question, but I'd assume dealers like Yacht Sales/Clear Lake have no particular interest in letting you look at/trample over a boat, your not intending to buy from them ?

I would think the dealer would be your best bet. That's a big purchase sight unseen.

If they can't come up with a local example, cut a deal with the dealer to take a trip to the production facilities and if you purchase, the price of the trip is deducted from the boat price.

And yes, I'm chasing the dealer(s), unfortunately there is no local dealer to me, so its all remote at this point !

We happen to be visiting the US end of the month, so was hoping to find one to go see.

Actually the dealers say they would be happy to let us on a boat, if they had one! I think, just as in the car industry, dealers are willing to help each other out to make a sale happen. Everyone has been very helpful, it looks like the only 42 is in Texas. There will be one delivered to the Annapolis area in mid-July.

Hi Jim

Congrats on your new 42. I don't think you will be disappointed. These boats are very well thought out and there aren't too many features to complain about. You will love it.

Olivier from the Les Sables delivery team told me at the Miami show in Feb that the factory was considering some upgrades to the design:

- Dedicated electric winch for the davits
- Adjustable helmseat
- Larger cooktop
- new microwave cabinet (now available as an option, although the factory solution is not great)

If these are of interest, you may want to enquire with your dealer to see if your boat will come with these features.

Our new 42 (Hull #60) is due out of the factory in mid Dec. Where did you end up in the production line?
