Lagoon Bilge Alarm Problem

I have a Lagoon 450 and the self activating bilge pump is a Rule 2000. Recently with a small amount of water sloshing around in the bilge pit the pump and alarm were activated. No problem except that when the pump stopped the alarm kept going. The only way to stop it was by cycling the manual bilge pump switch on the flybridge. This happened on many more times on that trip.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks

Re: Lagoon Bilge Alarm Problem

Not really Dave, but my alarm does go off with a small amount of water in the bilge in rougher seas. I realized the water gets in from the floor drain outside the shower area. Now we don't let so much water in that drain and I sponged out the keel so its dry. I prefer keep them clean and dry so I can tell if there really is a problem if the alarm goes off.

Re: Lagoon Bilge Alarm Problem

Hi Monte,

Thanks, yes I thought water got in from down the shower head leads hole and also I suspect from non return valves for the shower drain by the sump. I also wonder how good the water sensor is as I have had the pump run on even after the water drained. Do you know if there is a circuit breaker for the emergency pump?

Re: Lagoon Bilge Alarm Problem

Dear Dave
I have faced exactly the same bilge alarm problem with our L450, hull #3It happens almost every time when we are in rough seas. So far I haven't found any solution and there is no help from Lagoon as the guarantee period has expired.
Would be happy if some one could help us with this irritating failure.

Re: Lagoon Bilge Alarm Problem

My response from François PICOT at Lagoon was enlightening - although more about Lagoon service than a technical fix. After asking me a question to clarify the issue he then came out with the very wise solution "yes one is automatic the other is manual". What???

My solution to date has been to flush a lot of fresh water through the sensor and bilge pump and it does seem to start and stop (including the alarm) OK. I have labeled the circuit breakers for the port and starboard emergency Rule 2002 bilge pumps. Not the best solution to turn it off, but acceptable short term if confirmed that there is no leak. I have also checked that the Whale Gulper pumps works well as does the manual pump.

Re: Lagoon Bilge Alarm Problem

Our's goes off every two hours, if on a hot day in port and connected to shore power.

Installers of the 'Chilled water Air-con' ran the condensate drains to the bilge aaaaggghhhhhhHHHHH!
